    The Transport Management Services Ministry and the Department of Motor Traffic have jointly taken a decision to suspend all activities related to the renewal and issuance of driving licenses until further notice with the aim of preventing crowds from gathering and to curtail the possibility of the Covid-19 virus spreading further.

    Those who are infected with the Coronavirus but conceal their infection could face a six-month imprisonment said DIG Ajith Rohana addressing a special media briefing convened yesterday.

    The Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs and Provincial Councils and Local Government Secretary S. Hettiarachchi issued a special circular for state institutions, semi-government institutions, the private sector and for the general public, outlining a list of measures needed to be taken to prevent the spread and eradicating the Coronavirus from the country.

The fund, the first-of-its-kind, enables private individuals, corporations and  institutions anywhere in the world to come together to directly contribute to global response efforts, and has been created by the United Nations Foundation and the Swiss  Philanthropy Foundation, together with WHO.
