The National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) media briefing was held this afternoon at Rajagiriya headed by  Pavithra Wanniarachchi, Minister of Health, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Head of the (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, Medical Specialist Dr Anil Jasinghe, Director General of Health Services and Attorney-at Law Ajith Rohana, Deputy Inspector General of Police.

The Health Minister says that while the Health Ministry had taken measures to grant the demands made by the Public Health Inspectors Union, the decision taken by them is a blemish on the integrity of their profession.

Over the past two days with the discovery of Covid-19 positive patients from the Beruwela area certain actions had to be taken. Accordingly, based on intelligence information and the advice of the health officials, another 226 persons who had associated with those infected were sent to the Punani quarantine centre in order to ensure the safety of the other residents in the area.
