The total number of Covid-19 infected patients had risen to 50 by today, while another 212 suspected cases are receiving treatment at hospitals.
Indefinite curfew imposed in the Puttalam, Chilaw and Negombo Police Divisions
Issuing a statement the Acting IGP C.D. Wickramaratne announced that police curfew has been imposed in the Puttalam and Chilaw police divisions and Kochchikade in the Negombo Police Division from 4.30 pm today until further notice with the aim or controlling the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19).
The High Commission of Sri Lanka in New Delhi and the Deputy High Commission of Sri Lanka in Chennai, in consultation with the Ministry of Foreign Relations and the Ministry of Buddha Sasana, are effectively coordinating and facilitating the arrangements for the early return of Sri Lankan Buddhist pilgrims currently in India. These measures come in the wake of the travel and other restrictions that have arisen due to the rapidly spreading Covid-19.
The Sri Lanka Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has notified all online and offline carriers that according to instructions received from the Sri Lanka Health Authorities, all international Airports in Sri Lanka will be closed for operation of inward international commercial passenger flights (i.e arrivals) with effect from 4.00 am on 19 March 2020 (local time in Sri Lanka) until 11.59 pm on 25 March 2020 (local time in Sri Lanka).
