Navy rescues 55 distressed individuals in high seas, while attempting to illegally migrate from the country
July 13, 2022Sri Lanka Navy on 10th July 2022 rescued 55 individuals onboard a distressed local multiday fishing trawler, caught in a cyclone, in high seas about 390 nautical miles (722km) southeast of Hambantota.
Poaching trawler in northern waters held by the Navy
July 13, 2022Sri Lanka Navy conducted a special operation to chase away Indian trawlers poaching in northern waters of the island in the evening of 11th July 2022. Accordingly, the operation led to the seizure of an Indian trawler with 06 Indian fishermen poaching in Sri Lankan waters off the Kovilan Lighthouse.
