    Budget 2017 Third Reading passed Featured

    The Third Reading of the Appropriation Bill (Budget) - 2017 was passed by the House yesterday brining the Committee Stage Debate to an end.



    The division (vote) was taken by name as per the request made by the Chief Opposition Whip Anura Kumara Dissanayake. 165 votes were cast in favour of the Bill while 55 votes were cast against it. Four MPs were absent during the vote.


    Thus, the proceedings of the Budget 2017, which started on November 10th, were ended yesterday.

     

    Meanwhile, for the first time an electronic voting system was also used in Parliament as a trial following the voting by showing of hands.
