President Rajapaksa casts his vote at Medamulana

The Western and Southern Provincial Council elections got underway at 7AM today and will go on till 4PM at 4253 polling centres to elect 155 representatives for the two provinces.

Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa accompanied by First Lady Shiranthi Wickremasinghe Rajapaksa, Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa and youngest son Rohitha Rajapaksa cast their ballots at the Medamulana D. A. Rajapaksa Maha Vidyalaya in the Hambantota district this morning.

According to the elections commissioner counting of postal votes will commence at 4.15 pm today. Counting of other votes will begin at 6pm. The elections Chief said that the first postal voting result is expected to be released by 8.30 pm.
