48 war affected civilians were provided with prosthetic limbs during a ceremony held at Vellamullivaikkal School on Friday (16th Dec.).
According to Army media sources the donation of Rs. 2.2 million worth artificial limbs implemented by the Centre for the Handicapped, Kundasale was sponsored by the US AID. Local state officials and community leaders has assisted in the selection of suitable beneficiaries.
On a previous occasion in July this year Security Force Headquarters-Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) made a similar gesture and distributed 25 artificial limbs.
Commander, Security Forces - Mullaittivu Major General Dampath Fernando, representatives of Centre for the Handicapped, family members of the beneficiaries, state officials and local community leaders were also present.
