    Pension for artists celebrating President’s 2nd anniversary in office

    A pension scheme will be introduced for artists by Sri Lanka Social Security Board with the support of the Department of Cultural Affairs, said the Chairman of the Social Security Board Keerthi Suranjith Mawallage.


    On the advice of Minister of Internal Affairs, Wayamba Development and Cultural Affairs S.B. Nawinna and Minister of Social Empowerment and Welfare S.B. Dissanayaka the officers of both institutes held discussions and the Department of Cultural Affairs has agreed to provide Rs 44.4 million to the Social Security Board to commence the program.

     

    It is expected that from the second anniversary of the President assuming duty, the artists will receive the pension and the eligible artists will be selected by the Department of Cultural Affairs.

     

    All artists between the ages of 22 and 55 are eligible and the artists who contribute to the scheme initially will be eligible for a special bonus of Rs 50,000 at the time of receiving benefits.

     

    All artists contributing at time of death, partially disabled, or fully disabled will receive huge benefits.
