The Ministry of Child Development and Women's Affairs, together with the Divi Neguma Department of the Ministry of Economic Development, is implementing a programme to provide livelihood assistance to women who have been widowed due to the armed conflict. The first phase of the programme is currently being implemented in the Northern Province.
An event to hand over vehicles for Ministers and the Chairman of the Northern Provincial Council was held on Saturday (05) at Governor’s Secretariat in Jaffna. The Governor of the Northern Province GA Chandrasiri handed over the keys of the vehicles to the responsible officers of each provincial ministry. Transport has been an important service in all sectors of administration and it is expected that these vehicles will help to run the provincial administration in a more effective manner.
