    Army-Built ‘Nallinakkapuram’ Community Centre Handed Over to District Secretary

    The Army-constructed Nallinakkapuram Community Centre, constructed with remainder of raw materials to the value of Rs 6 million, brought to the Keeramalai Housing Project, was vested in the public in the presence of Mr. Nagalingham Vethanayahan, Jaffna District Secretary on Saturday (4th Feb) as a milestone event to coincide with the Independence Day.
     
    It was handed over to the inhabitants at Nallinakkapuram by Major General Mahesh Senanayaka, Commander, Security Forces-Jaffna (SF-J) to be used as their meeting point for common purposes.
     
    Addressing the recipients who were recently resettled, Mr.Nagalingham Vethanayahan, District Secretary told publicly that the Sri Lanka Army was the sole organization which is fully capable of implementing the challenging task of converting a rugged and an abandoned area into a fully-fledged housing scheme.
     
    Major General Aruna Wanniarachchi, General Officer Commanding, 52 Division, Brigadier Mervyn Perera, General Officer Commanding, 51 Division, Brigadier Ruwan Gunathilake, Brigadier Admin & Quartering, SFHQ-J, Commodore Rohan Pradeep Gunawardana, Deputy Commander, Northern Naval Command, Group Captain Lasitha Harsha Kumara, Commanding Officer, Air Force Base Station, Palaly, senior government officials, senior tri-service Officers, senior Police officers, soldiers and civilians attended the event.
