Sri Lanka Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) together with the IT division of the Ministry of Education have taken steps to further strengthen the Information Technology Students’ Clubs established in schools island-wide.
Under this initiative, the students will be given the knowledge on digital education and digital technology. Practical trainings on the use of modern technological equipment will also be given.
The program will be implemented district wise and it has already been concluded in several districts. Authorities said that steps would also be taken to establish IT Clubs in the schools where such clubs do not exist.
The Government official news portal is maintains by the New Media Unit of the Department of Government Information and it was titled "news.lk" and commenced in mid1996 and release to Internet from March 01st, 1997.
