A novel training scheme in the hotel trade has been launched in the Eastern Province by the Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management with the Eastern Provincial Council.
It is designed as a measure for the youth in the East, interested in the hotel trade as a profession.
Initially 90 youth in the province have been selected for the training course.
A one month English language training program is included and the recipients would be given a practical training in culinary art, preparation of food and methods of the hospitality trade at the Anuradhapura Regional Faculty of the Hotel School.
All trainees who successfully complete the training course would be able to obtain new job opportunities in Sri Lanka and foreign countries.
These measures are designed to give new life to the present generation of youth in the liberated Eastern Sector which is now fast developing in all spheres.
